XX Aniversario de Elkarri

Elkarri nació hoy, hace 20 años. Jonan Fernandez, Paul Ríos y Jordi Armadans han escrito varios artículos que resumen muy bien las reflexiones y sentimientos que genera este aniversario. Más allá de necesarias lecturas sobre lo que pudimos aportar me quedo con lo que aprendí humana y profesionalmente de gente excepcional. Eskerrik asko Elkarri!

Saiatu en El Correo

El Correo ha publicado un excelente artículo sobre el proyecto Saiatu que ofrece cuidados y acompañamiento en el domicilio para personas que se encuentran en la fase final de su vida. Tan sólo dos matizaciones a lo publicado por El Correo: (1) Saiatu ofrece sus servicios de acompañamiento de forma gratuita a las familias pero esto no significa que el proyecto no tenga un coste económico. La lectura del artículo invita a pensar que su personal es voluntario y no es así, se trata de un equipo altamente profesional y cualificado. Hasta el momento, este coste se ha cubierto con ayudas de proyectos europeos y recientemente gracias a la inversión de la Fundación Urbegi. En el futuro, Saiatu aspira a formalizar acuerdos con instituciones públicas y privadas para financiarse a través de parte de los ahorros que genera en el sistema socio-sanitario. Es uno de los aspectos más innovadores del proyecto y puede entenderse como una versión simplificada de los Social Impact Bonds o Bonos de Impacto Social.
La otra matización (2) es que el primer informe de evaluación del proyecto se ha podido realizar gracias a Oberri, el Instituto Vasco de Innovación Sanitaria, mientras que el segundo informe será financiado por la Fundación Etorbizi. Muchas gracias de nuevo a María Jose Carrero y a “El Correo”.

PhD Days of the “G-9” Universities

I have been invited to present some of our projects: Hiriko and SaiatuSaiatu at the G-9 PhD Days. The G-9 Universities are the only public universities in their respective regions (Autonomous Communities). The G-9 Universities are the Universities of Oviedo, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura, the Balearic Islands, Zaragoza, La Rioja, the Basque Country and Navarra.

The PhD Days are a fairly widespread activity, in different formats, among the universities around the world. PhD Days in Europe are usually organized at faculty or school level and are mainly aimed at the promotion of the PhD theses that are being elaborated. These seminars are especially common in French Universities (Journées Doctorales or Forum des Doctorands) as well as in Nordic, Dutch and German Universities (held under the name of PhD Days or PhD Days Forum).

Social Innovation has been proposed as main topic of this first edition for the PhD Days in Spain. The concept of Social innovation refers to the development and implementation of new ideas (products, services and models) to meet social needs. In other words, it can also be described as quest for novel solution to a social problem that is more effective, efficient, sustainable or fair than the existing ones and its created value primarily benefits society as whole and not specific individuals.
